Family: Arecaceae

With a crown of stiff, blue-green fronds stretching outward 15 to 20 feet, the attractive Bismarck palm is very popular in Florida landscapes

This palm, is a native of Madagascar may grow to more than 60 feet tall & is crowned with many
4 foot long by 4 foot wide fronds held on 6 foot stems. Young specimens are quite spectacular with this large spread and stout trunks.

U.S.D.A. zones 10-11, full sun to partial shade.

Very tolerant of drought, salt air. Grows in a wide range of soil textures as long as it is well drained, a soil pH range from slightly alkaline to acidic is acceptable.

The Bismarck palm is relatively pest free and can take below freezing temps for short periods with little damage.

Care should be taken not to damage the roots when transplanting, avoid overwatering new plantings and container plants, allowing them to dry out slightly between watering.
